The Number of Registered Trademarks In China Exceeds 27.4 Million

1614930652959006.jpgPeople's Daily Online reported on July 9 that the State Intellectual Property Office held a regular press conference in the third quarter of 2020, publishing statistics for the first half of 2020 on patents, trademarks, geographical indications, integrated circuit layout designs, and the development trend and progress of China's intellectual property reflected in these data. The data shows that in the first half of 2020, China's major intellectual property indicators are in line with expectations, and the development of intellectual property has remained stable.

 

According to Hu Wenhui, a spokesman for CNIPA, the number of trademark applications in China in the first half of 2020 was 4.284 million, and the number of trademark registrations was 2.629 million. As of the end of June 2020, the number of valid registered trademarks was 27.414 million. 

 

Meanwhile, the number of applications for international registration of Madrid trademarks by Chinese applicants was 3,875, a year-on-year increase of 36%. As of the end of June 2020, the number of valid international registrations of Madrid trademarks by Chinese applicants was 41,000. 

 

In the first half of the year, a total of 166,000 applications for trademark review cases were received, and 192,000 cases were closed. The average examination period for trademark registration is within 4.5 months.
