On March 5, Lu Pengqi, Deputy Commissioner of the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), met with Jeff Pott, Chief Human Resources Officer of AstraZeneca in Beijing.

Lu stated that China is accelerating the implementation of the innovation-driven development strategy, pursuing higher-level opening up, and actively fostering a world-class business environment that is market-oriented, law-based, and internationalized. The CNIPA has always maintained an active and open attitude toward listening to the suggestions of foreign-funded enterprises on doing business in China, promptly understanding their demands for IP protection, and striving to create a better environment for innovation and business.

Pott expressed great appreciation for the CNIPA's work in strengthening IP protection, especially patent protection in the pharmaceutical field. He stated that the CNIPA has heeded the development voices of foreign-funded enterprises seriously, and paid attention to their feedback, greatly boosting AstraZeneca's investment in China with confidence.

CNIPA principal officials responsible for relevant departments also attended the meeting.
