The 2024 Meeting of IP5 Deputy Heads of Office was held via video conference recently. The meeting was hosted by the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) who held this year's presidency, with Lu Pengqi, Deputy Commissioner of the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), leading the Chinese delegation. The meeting was chaired by Kim Shi-Hyeong, Vice Commissioner of the KIPO with Christoph Ernst, Vice President of the the European Patent Office (EPO), Katsura Masanori, Deputy Commissioner of the Japanese Patent Office (JPO), and Valencia Martin Wallace, Deputy Commissioner of the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) leading delegations respectively. The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) also sent representatives to the meeting as observers.
The meeting reviewed the work progress and achievements made by various working groups and through the cooperation framework of the road-map for new emerging technologies and artificial intelligence in the past year, and held discussions on the preparation for the IP5 Heads of Office meeting, consolidation and direction of IP5 projects, industrial participation and other crucial issues related to the IP5's future cooperation. The meeting has laid a solid foundation for the upcoming June meetings of IP5 Heads and deepened IP5 cooperation.
